Abstract
Compartment syndrome is a complication of trauma or other conditions that compromises perfusion of confined space. Timely diagnosis and early intervention are necessary for better prognosis since it has a high risk of limb morbidity if left untreated. We report a case of neglected anterior compartment syndrome representing long-term complicated course. A 38-year old male with the history of untreated trauma of right anterior lower leg had gradually developed the right foot drop and ankle contracture for 15 years. Electrodiagnostic and sonographic studies suggested incomplete deep peroneal neuropathy with the muscle necrosis and myositis ossificans in the right anterior tibial compartment. This case implies that physicians must check symptoms of compartment syndrome at the time of not only the first diagnosis but also the serial medical follow-up.
